The crescent shaped plan of this 1960s vintage home in Austin’s woodsy Mt. Bonnell area follows a natural ridge, allowing the house to open to a secluded naturalized forest. Windows run the length of the rear façade, creating indoor – outdoor connections that expand the house’s relatively small footprint. Kyle’s renovation encompassed strengthening the existing connections through expanded doors and windows and building a retaining wall to define the edge of the back yard and formalize the outdoor space.
Inside, the exceptional original terrazzo floors were renovated and complemented by new oak floors. These form basis of the home’s cool and calming color palette of cool blues, warm greys that combine with the elemental stone, wood and glass to create a modern but livable spaces for a family of five.
