The transformation of this house allows it to take advantage of spectacular views of the adjacent golf course. The extensive remodeling of the existing structure turned the house around to face the golf course, moving an existing garage from the back to the side. Its modest street presence, in tune with its neighbors, belies the more dramatic spaces that are focused on the view to the back. A new pool terrace takes advantage of the site’s natural topography, stepping down from the house and leaving views from the interiors unobstructed.
The project’s French influences quietly echo the owners’ Louisiana roots interpreted with a modern sensibility. The new interiors are enhanced by a series of public and private spaces that lead from the entry to the terrace, creating an entirely fresh spatial experience that is at once open yet clearly defined.
