Lindenwood Residence

Reinterpreting iconic elements of rural architecture with a contemporary spin, we gave this new home a fresh and friendly character. Rolling barn doors, exposed trusses, and wood siding have been refined in design, but remain true to their function. The heart of the house is the double-height living/dining room, where a fireplace built of thin, crisply chiseled slices of Pennsylvania bluestone rises dramatically to the ceiling. This great room occupies the central cross-bar of the H-shape floor plan; the kitchen comprises one wing of the house, the family’s bedrooms, baths, and offices are located in the other one. These personal spaces continue the distinctive aesthetic of the living/dining room, but at a more intimate scale.
