DKA Studio

Our own studio is a bright, open environment designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and communication. The three-story building takes the form of an inverted L, a configuration that allows us to maximize parking on the narrow corner lot—an important consideration in the Museum District. While the deep overhang shelters cars from the sun, it also invites pedestrians to walk through the site (rather than around it) as they visit the art galleries in the neighborhood. Abstracted leaf-like openings are carved into a wooden screen that encircles the structure, a gentle but graphic reference to the live oaks that line the streets. Administration and conference spaces are located on the lower two levels of the 5,800-square-foot building, with the design studio on the more spacious, light-filled third level.
