Before joining DKA in 2012, Heather worked in Los Angeles, San Antonio, and Houston on hospitals, houses, and commercial projects for non-profit clients; she also helped develop high-design prefabricated housing. Before graduating from Rice University, Heather spent a year on a traveling fellowship, exploring the effects of light in sacred spaces in nineteen European countries. She has been a teacher for the Kids Initiating Design Solutions outreach program, which teaches elementary school age kids about architecture, and volunteered as a house chair for the Rice Design Alliance Homes Tour. Heather is a Colorado native who has adopted Texas as her new home; and although she and her husband, Parrish, don’t currently have any domesticated animals, they frequently encounter the squirrel population in their tomato and herb garden.
